About the Girl…

I’m Carmen Sakurai…  obviously, I’m the “Girl” on this blog.

First, let me say… this blog was my son Joshua’s idea. No joke. “Mommy, you take pictures of everything you eat and your friends on Facebook really enjoy looking at them! So, maybe you should make a website just for those pictures!”

Now, if you don’t already know this, I’m a website developer and online marketer… I already have many, many, much toooo many blogs to maintain for my business. However, the more this idea danced around in my mind, the more I liked it. And here I am… cheerfully sharing with you what I’ve been scarfing down.

When dining with my mom, she never fails to ask, “Why are you taking pictures of your food?! Why do you have to show everyone what you are eating?”… and my reply, “Becauuuuuuse!” — Yes, I’m clever like that. Seriously though, photos of delicious looking food always cheered me up, and I finally decided to take responsibility of my own happiness and take pictures of my *own* food! The result… I’m now happy as a clam. Move over Zoloft!

“Do you work in the food & beverage business?” Let me answer that by asking you… “must one be in a food-related biz to enjoy a meal?”… Of course not. However, I did work at a Giordano’s in, IL as a “phone order girl” back when I was 16. “Thank you for calling Giordano’s of Willowbrook, how may I take your order?” But, now-a-days…

I’m a work-at-home-mom, so instead of working a 9-5 j.o.b., I have the luxury of somehow fitting in 12 hours of building and maintaining my business throughout the day… it can get crazy at times, but I feel it’s all worth it because…

95% of my time is allocated to MY SON… playing outside, putting up tents in the living room, battling Transformers, building Legos & Bionicles, reading, doing homework, restaurant & movie nites, Spongebob TV marathons, sharing, etc. I do *not* reschedule with my baby, unless I’m deathly ill.

And let’s now add homeschooling to that list, shall we? I am now my 4th grade child’s teacher. And I LOVE it. And I LOVE that he loves it!!

Then I try to invest 2.5% in another degree that I may find interesting and the remaining 2.5% to volunteering at my son’s school. I’m the PTA President and have been actively volunteering at J’s school from day uno. I teach Religious Education once a week, and help out as a “team/den mom” for any and all extracurricular activity my son is involved in.

That makes 100% of my time. Herein lies the challenges of squeezing in all my business-related responsibilities so that my son and I have plenty of food to stuff our tummies with ;)

Anyway… Ever since I was forced into the role of single-mom back in October ’06, I’ve found myself becoming addicted to a medley of delightful things…

food, purses, clothes, food, chocolate, tiffany silver, self-help books, bubble tea, chocolate, hair products, food, shoes, sushi, makeup, restaurants, downloading music, food, writing, food, perfume, food, movies, chocolate, clubs, food, and… office supplies (^-^)*

Which was really weird because I’m usually fond of… not much.  Maybe this is my way of keeping myself amused while avoiding having to face my screwed up reality.

And that’s what this site is about… My Obsession with FOOD.

Lovely, ain’t it?

So, this is my personal space… my quiet little corner of the WWW  (^.^)

Enjoy…
