Hola and welcome to Girl Plus Food! I’m Carmen… the “Girl” on this blog (who is unable to keep a straight face ever).
It started when… my son Joshua (aka. JRoc) said to me, “You take pictures of everything you eat and your friends on Facebook really like them! You should make a website just about food!” So here we are.
My iPhone camera… makes an appearance whenever there’s pretty food… and good food (that may not look all that pretty) on the table. So I’m tellin you right now that there are NO professional food pix on this blog. There’s really no point in calling me out on exposures and filters and angles and light and… I don’t *get* photography stuff like that. All I know is beautiful, delicious food makes me happy, and my iPhone captures it well enough for me to cherish & admire it forever.
It’s all personal… GirlPlusFood.com is a personal food blog, created & maintained by me, Carmen Sakurai. I don’t have thousands of recipes and reviews posted (yet – just wait, my kid and I can eat like no other!)… all recipes have been tested by me, my son, my family, or my friends… and all reviews are of my own.
Heads-Up: You should know… I’m not a health blogger, clean eater, nor am I familiar with ingredients that “shouldn’t” be in certain products. I made some yummy smoothies a few times, and I won’t lie… those events were WILDLY celebrated simply because fruit and vegetables were involved. I’ve never counted calories, purchased anything low-fat, low-sodium, or sugar-free… and I have no idea what gluten-free is (yeah… report me to the Nutrition Association… or whatever – I couldn’t even tell you who to report me to.)… so keep that in mind.
Where I get the recipes… most recipes come from cookbooks, magazines, and Pinterest… but some are totally made up. LOL. I make it a point to attribute the source whenever possible.
