Quick & Easy Bubble Tea / Boba Tea!
One of our favorite treats (especially during the SCORCHING Vegas summer) is Bubble Tea (Boba Tea)..
Bubble tea shops are popping up left & right, and I used to drive out and pick one up *at least* once a week… but, that expensive routine came to a halt when I realized how quick and easy it was to make these nummies at home!! We don’t make the “traditional” tea-like version because J & I prefer the “smoothie” one.
And good Lord it’s SO YUMMY!
We purchase the instant bubble tea mix & tapioca pearls at our local Asian Market. Go look for them at Asian stores near you!
Here’s how to make it in less than 10 minutes!!
Step 1: Cook the Tapioca Pearls…

Directions on package:
Boil 10 cups of water for 1 cup of Tapioca Pearl into a large pot. Pour the water into a large pot and bring it to a boil. Pour the Tapioca Pearl into the water slowly. Stir softly. After the Tapioca Pearl becomes plump, turn the heat to a medium setting and cover the pot for 5 minutes. Scoop the Tapioca Pearl out and it is ready to serve. You can also mix the Tapioca Pearl with sugar or honey.
< carmen’s tip > I add a little sugar to the pearls… couldn’t tell you exactly how much, but, taste and see what works for you

Step 2: Make the Smoothie…

Directions on package:
Combine in blender…
- 4 tablespoons of Fruit Latte mix.
- 1/2 cup water or milk
- 1 cup ice
Blend until smooth!

Now you simply add as much tapioca pearls into a glass, pour the smoothie over it, and I like to top it off with whipped cream! Then stick a fat “bubble tea” straw into it and ENJOY!!
< carmen’s tip > as you can see from the pix above, Joshua likes his without the “bubbles”… I, on the other hand, like mine with extra tapioca pearls. Ya, I *know* I have the BIGGER glass… bite me!!< / tip >

I’m dying to try bubble tea at home, thanks for sharing!
